LOVE IRELAND?

You will LOVE the history behind this Pendant!

The Celtic Cross became widespread in Ireland and the Celtic Isles from the 9th through to the 12th centuries. As such, many ruins from this time contain Celtic Crosses of various forms. One can view Celtic Crosses all across Ireland to this day, often representing significant battles or revolutionaires who have passed.

Celtic Crosses' popularity wained in the 12th century but again gained popularity during the Celtic Revival of the 19th century when Ireland began to revive its Celtic and Irish culture, in an attempt to separate itself from British culture and customs as both had begun to dominate due to Britain's military and political control of Ireland.

19th Century Celtic Cross with Trinity Knot

Celtic Cross with Trinity Knot
Two details made the Celtic Cross such an iconic symbol of Ireland and Celtic culture. The first is the ring placed behind the cross, which isn't found in standard Christian crosses.

The second detail is the Celtic Trinity Knot work as can be seen in the Celtic cross above, as well as on our Celtic pendant.

In wearing these Celtic symbols, we remember the precious heritage of Ireland. This land of saints and scholars.
